Its a mix of a Deimos Rhino kit, a Immolator kit and a Deimos Pattern Whirlwind Scorpius. Not the cheapest but I really like the look of it.
I'll be printing off a batch of them with a higher resolution in a black filament for the final parts. Its been a fun experiment and just adds to the custom nature of my sisters vehicles
Hate hate hate. It looks dumb for a protective device and you have to paint all the little facets.

I thought I would put the big expensive brick in my office to work and try printing something. What you see here is a quick and dirty prototype. I've got the shield size right after a few trials and error. Now to put in the window.

the question is, simple view port? Flur shaped view port? Aquila shaped view port??

Then I just need to work on the print quality and possibly a vapor bath to smooth it out some.Mad Pathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08146372952285285955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1204966829785560421.post-84568114048734281862017-07-01T15:57:00.000-05:002017-07-01T15:57:23.134-05:00Old is new again

So awhile back I had a idea for a cool mod. Course it would have been expensive as hell to build. Though some things fell into place and I was able to get my hands on some FW kits and some out of print and hard to find Sisters kits. So I present to you the MKIC Deimos Pattern Immolator and Exorcist.

I have a dream of one day having a plays as Death Watch army. Right now best way to do that is Pedro and his crimson fists played as kill teams. Sternguard are great kill team stand ins. With their special ammo and the ability to get diffrent combi weapons or heavy weapons.

So I figured I would start building it out. You've already seen the start of the force between the librarian and the first 5 kill team members. I have another set of shoulders and helmets on the way from GW to finish out the first team of 10.

Astute viewers will notice the lack of a left hand, I honestly forgot to glue it on until after I had seen the cell phone photo. It was glued on shortly after.
The model frosted up while dull coating. I should have been a touch more careful, and honestly moved to the new airbrush setup for dull coating as well. I've been attempting to nail down the new "codex" for the Sisters. I've played several games so far mainly against marines of one flavor or another. Well mostly Wolves, because while their may be no wolves on Fenris they are all over North Dallas. So far I've had a pretty good run, I'm about even on win/loss. Seraphem make the baby Celestine cry, they just arn't their assault goodness anymore. Sure they get lots of guns and lots of rolls but they don't live long enough to make their points useful. Dominion squads have replaced them for now. Exorcists are still the start of the show. Twice now i've removed an entire speeder squadron in one turn with the two Exorcists. This past weekend one volley equaled one dead squadron of three speeders

On the hobby front, I've got the second immolator built out with the Baal pred front panel so they are a bit distinctive. I still need to get the second immolator kit to finish out my second new style Exorcist. I've got a ton of girls ready to go.

I just can't bring myself to paint them yet. They are going to require a ton of work and unless i can get them a bit better on the table I'm not sure I want to put that much effort into the army.

Mad Pathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08146372952285285955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1204966829785560421.post-61715979913825833952011-08-05T15:53:00.001-05:002011-08-18T09:56:54.285-05:00A very dry runLast evening I tried a small experiment. Being as GW has decided to frustrate the hell out of us by dividing the Sisters codex between two White Dwarfs I have been really unable to fully test the new rules. So what I did was decide to play the new rules using the old point system and org chart. I tried to keep the wargear to a minimum as we have no idea what is going to be availible. More or less things went OK. I faced off against Dan and his proxy Chaos Marine army, we both spent the evening looking up rules and numbers.

We drew Dawn of War and Capture and Control...yeah fun.

I tried to give most of the major units a good going over.

Basic sister squads are very nice. I won't have a full opinion till I see what they get for wargear, or the Sgt does or does not have available. The ability for one act of faith to cover a different aspect each phase is really nice, and the invul 6 is quite handy. Over all they didn't get any worse, and they got one or two small things better. Small considerations like grenades standard, as well as a bolt pistol and bolter. Doesn't seem like much but it allows you to preemptively assault and get some shots in.

Dear god please let the Rhino be cheaper.

At this point, before seeing wargear and upgrades all I can say is Seraphem have been gutted. From everything I can see, and perhaps I'm not seeing the designers vision, they have gone to a really nice close combat unit, capable of great counter strike and tank hunting. To shooters with jump packs. Their act of faith, their drop to sub par leadership all point to more shooty less close combat.
Seraphem are just unable to stand up in close combat. Dropping int to 3 and giving them only one attack in close combat even with matched pistols means even when they do get to attack they have already suffered losses and have fewer attacks. Their faith act is great for shooting not so much for close combat.

Looking across the page the act of faith for celestines seems better fit for serephem. In fact I would love to trade the two skills. Give the Celestines rerolls on to hit and the jump troopers a better str in close combat. The celestines also got the serephims second attack, now looking at the old rules the serephim only had one attack and 2 pistols....who else has two close combat weapons and only one attack??? That really is just not fair.

Penetant Engine looks nasty on paper, lots of attacks, generate extra attacks, heavy flamers, ignores shaken and stunned. Problem is its too easy to knock out. In a world where Meltas are handed out like flash lights most folks will have a weapon that gets a +1 to die roll for being a melta weapon, then you add another +1 for open topped. That means we will never get a result of 1, and mostly likely will be getting higher results on lower end shots. I know its been open topped but I guess I just had hoped they would make it a touch more survivable.

6+ save is awesome. NO it really is. It saved quite a few girls last night when normally they would have just been off the board.

Outflanking dominions cool, bring them in the back line with meltas blazing. Just don't expect them to live long past your bringing them on the board.

As long as they keep the exorcist missile stats the same and give the sisters a good selection of vehicle upgrades most of the vehicle changes should be solid. It would be nice if the immolator still got to fire the flamers on the move at 12.

Here is also a hope for blessed ammo!

Cool moment of the evening. Korn bezerkers charge a poor squad of battle sisters and after 5 power weapon wounds and 15 normal one sister remained. Before her moral check I got my single attack back in. What did she do? She punched Karn smack dab in the face doing a single wound. She then proceeded to fail her moral check and was run down by the rest of his squad. But for a breif moment we had punched chaos in the face!Mad Pathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08146372952285285955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1204966829785560421.post-85465101702382709482011-04-26T22:07:00.001-05:002011-04-26T22:08:02.718-05:00We shall fight them in the shade

I got the first of the Exorcist built tonight. Most of the members of my local group went with Imperials and we have a Tau player who picked up a few fighters as well. With the exception of one set of ork fighters we really didn't have anyone to pick on but the Tau, so I went the other direction. I chose to pick up the opposition in the form of a couple of sets of Chaos raiders. It was bloody and brutal to say the least. 4 objectives, spearhead deployment. The sisters took the field with a cannoness and celestines in a repressor, two squads of sisters one over sized at 17 members and one in a rhino, both with heavy flamer and melta. a seraphim squad, a dominion squad in an immolator and of course an exorcist.

When you have nothing left, hunt tanks.

The game came down to turn 7, with a draw. The sisters....all 5 of them holding on for dear life. We had three sisters left from squad one, one veteran sister left from squad two, both squads holding on to objectives for dear life. the last member of the team left, a really really pissed off seraphim who spent the later part of the game tank hunting by herself.

early in the game squad two's rhino was destroyed causing them to walk. We did manage to knock out the vendetta mid game giving us a bit more breathing room. Mid game also saw the command team actually fail a moral check and run off the board edge 5 inches from them at the time. The seraphim took big losses to the imperial guard veterans who disembarked from the burning vendetta, only to be driven down and killed like dogs in a sweeping advance made by the lone surviving seraphim. She would spend the rest of the game tank hunting, and destroying one Leman Russ in the process.

Three tanks, and mortars...pray allot

It was a brutal brutal game, and I made some huge mistakes, my opponent was robbed of a well earned win by the grace and luck of the Emperors light. As they say the Emperor protects, and he likes me best.Mad Pathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08146372952285285955noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1204966829785560421.post-85672037967124719222010-11-16T22:24:00.000-06:002010-11-16T22:24:01.443-06:00Fires of BattleTonight the Sisters took the field this evening with the loyal men of the space marines to scour the field of battle clean of the scum of Choas and their Ork slaves.
It is the forces of Ruin's turn to go. Two squads of sisters and one of their rhinos hold the center line and the objective. The red blob in the crater is the Khorn Bezerker squad who just had their rhino blown up from under them by the sisters and their melta. The exorcist lays immobilized and missing its rocket launcher. This would be the most significant loss for the sisters that night. Against all odds, the Sisters only lost 4 of their number in the final charge of the bezerkers before the game ended. Two in the shooting phase and two in close combat. We even managed to kill one of them in the process. All of this accomplished with out spending any faith points. Of course they would have been wiped clean come turn six.Mad Pathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08146372952285285955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1204966829785560421.post-54817744154297152462010-10-11T16:58:00.000-05:002010-10-11T16:58:09.375-05:00Lust is a sin!I am in lust with this amazing Sisters army. They did pretty well for an older codex with limited options available. Nothing spectacular today but the Order held its own against a bad deployment on my behalf and my opponents stealing the first turn away. I have realized I need more exorcists, mine has not managed to really do any damage but as a fire magnet it saved allot of other units from the hail of fire it brought down just by its presence. I also need to move the battle squads around on the board better, so time to save the pennies.Mad Pathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08146372952285285955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1204966829785560421.post-87788408606403900072010-02-16T11:14:00.006-06:002010-02-16T11:18:47.402-06:00Celestian Honor GuardWell I got a base coat down on the Celestian honor guard for the sisters of The Sacred Order of the Maid of Orléans. This will form the core of the squad, with a Veteran Sister and two flamers making up the rest. I wanted to go with the helmeted troops so that I could paint the core helmet white and the visor gold making them stand out from the rest. The rest of the girls in the army will be bared headed where possible.
